Do you have a Taco Bell in your area that you’d like to eat at? It seems like most places around the United States have a Taco Bell, so I decided to do some research and see what Taco Bell has that is truly gluten free.
Unfortunately, my research produced limited results, but I did find this Taco Bell allergens chart which includes gluten as one of the many allergens on the list. It certainly isn’t an ideal or definitive list, but it was updated recently and hopefully will help some people who are determined to dine at a Taco Bell.
In the meantime, I will keep an eye on the official Taco Bell website for a gluten free menu. Once one is posted, I will be sure to get this post updated with their official gluten free information!

Looks like there’s precious little to eat at Taco Bell.
In looking over Taco Bell’s GF offerings quite a while back, I noticed the pinto beans were GF, while the meat mixture apparently isn’t. So I asked them to substitute beans for the meat in my crunchy tacos or taco supremes, and have had no reaction whatsoever in the multiple times I’ve eaten there. I can’t say for certain that this is foolproof – I may not be as gluten sensitive as some folks, and perhaps there is some hidden gluten in there somewhere that just hasn’t bothered me personally– but if someone is game enough to give it a try, it might put Taco Bell back on the fast food map for times when there are few other options available (ie, a road trip). I always keep in mind when looking at a GF menu, that the item may contain gluten when prepared in the usual way — but if the gluten item is left out or substituted with a non-gluten item, it then becomes an option. Of course, everything is still subject to cross-contamination, especially in fast food restaurants, but so far, so good as far as my taco-eating experiences have gone….
I thought the taco’s were GF. I’ve eaten at Taco Bell many times and i alwasy get their taco’s. I had a reaction for the first time about a week ago. I remember looking up to see if their taco’s were GF and i thought they were since i had no reaction. Like you, i think i maybe a little less sensitive as i ‘ve had their taco supremes many times with no reaction and with meat not beans. I may have to get the tostada or nachos from now on. : (
Cheri~ i am sorry they hurt your stomach but hard shell tacos are gluten free they are made with corn!
The corn shells DO contain gluten…see the link at the top. You may be gluten sensitive not gluen intolerant?

The taco shells have a small amount of oat gluten.
Almost evrything on their allergen list has wheat in it. The last time I checked on the grocery shelf, the number one ingredient in their spices is wheat flour, or at the very least had wheat flour in it..
