Maggiano’s Little Italy in San Antonio, Texas

Restaurant: Maggiano’s Little Italy

Website: Maggiano’s

Location(s): The Rim, 17603 I-10 W., (210) 451-6000 (N)

Restaurant Review: Though the feel of the restaurant is old-fashioned, Maggiano’s is up to date in meeting people’s dietary needs. Whole-wheat penne can be ordered in exchange for any of the white pastas on the menu. Gluten-free pasta made from corn is also offered, as are a few gluten-free sauces.

We were told about the options by the chef, who also explained that every dish was prepared “a la minute.” That was welcome news to the person in the group who didn’t want any fat in her food. She got the sauce of her Shrimp and Angel Hair al Arrabbiata with little oil added.

Update:  If you live in the Virginia area, you’ll also find a review of their Maggiano’s Little Italy here.

Bonus: Want to take gluten free restaurant information with you on the go? We recommend the excellent Gluten Free Restaurants Guide, which is a small print guide that includes over 5,000 restaurants and 80 restaurant menu lists from many major restaurant chains. It even features a breakdown by state so you can find gluten free restaurant menu information no matter where you are within the United States!
